This is the first 1200KM self-supported cycling event in Malaysia, organised by International Islamic University Malaysia.
Endurance long distance cycling has become increasingly popular in the world as well as in Malaysia. The recent participation of Malaysians in the prestigious, more than 100 years old Paris-Brest-Paris 2019, is the evidence for this statement.
MALAYSIA 1200, or we would like to call it MY1200 is organised to promote healthy lifestyle in the community. Ultra-distance cycling requires very strong mental strength. In fact, some even claimed that it’s the mental that drive one to the finish line. Ultra-distance cycling like BRMs, organised by Audax Randonneur Malaysia (ARM) or Audax Club Parisien (ACP), stressed the important of self-reliance, and therefore MY1200 shall follow the same spirit; SELF-RELIANCE.
MY1200 is also organised in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2020. The aim of ultra-distance cycling is not speed. In fact the average speed expected is 13 km/h over the 1200KM course in 90 hours. Participants are encouraged to enjoy the ride and appreciate the scenery and landscapes along the route.
MY1200 is not organised for profit. There will be other categories as well. For those who are not ready to cycle for 1200KM, we will also organise a 35KM fun-ride (Kuantan to Gambang) as well as 280KM endu-ride (From Kuantan to Gombak).
We hope everyone will enjoy this ride and MY1200 can become a regular event in Malaysia.
